My stories were kind of successful. I only got stories about dress code. I didn't get the topic questions even answer. I was only finding stories of students punishments. I wanted to know why is the dress code restricting. The most useful website was kidspeakonline.org. It had some good stories of student getting in trouble for breaking the dress code rule. Even the really good kids were getting in trouble for little things about it. My useful website was a good source because it was an organization site not a commercial. Most of my sites were stories.

Reflection on the process
I enjoyed doing my research. To me it felt pretty easy and it was very interesting. I thought our school punishments were crazy. Other schools her even more stricter punishment than what we have. I dislikes how it only gave me stories it was hard to answer some questions because of that. I would think twice about my questions but the project was fun and easy in some ways.
Reflectiion on Finding
I found my research very interesting. I thought our school was bad on dress codes. Other schools even the good kids got in trouble for the little things. In our schools the good kids got away with things. In other schools there all treated equal. I found that out fair. The important facts that I found was students being forced to show their following the dress code.I don't have any questions the main ones got answered. I believe school are violating our rights. They worry to much about dress codes, than our education.

Finding paragraph #2
Dress codes are put in place so they wont be much problems in school. Such as bullying, gang violence, students being robbed, and also for students safety. In our school we don't deal with gang violence. We do have bullying and students being robbed. I don't think dress code will make a different well at least not in robbing or bullying. Uniforms may help a little with bullying in school. It wont help much bullying will still keep on. Students stealing things from an other student has nothing to do with dress code. It wont help their as well. Students safety it could help in a way student can hide weapons or drugs in big clothing on them. Like hoodies is an easy way to hide an weapon. so far in my study it didnt help to have uniforms or dress code much. Behaviors were still alomost the same
These are general observations and, of course, there are exceptions. For example, one group of students told us that although they had uniforms, the school policy did not specify specific types of uniforms, so some students wore very expensive dark pants and light shirts, while others wore less expensive ones, and the status reduction argument was thus moot. Of course, there are also many ways for gang members to identify themselves in addition to dress, too, so uniforms do not eliminate gangs or all of their ways to identify. Still, the fact that there are some glitches and ways to beat the system should not shoot down the entire concept

Finding paragraph #1
Is the student dress code a violation of students rights. In my finding it is. Some schools have suspended students for breaking the dress code rules. In Oklahoma a student got suspended for wear a headscarf. She was Muslim so it deal with her religion. Which in my opinion I think that's wrong. In a school in Texas school officers were caught on tape. Forcing boys to lift there shirts up to see if they were waist level. Even the honor kids are being suspended by breaking the rule by the simplest things like not tucking her shirt in. The school year has just started and about 700 hundred students have been suspended. School are more worried about the dress code than a students education.

Quote #4
It took only an hour for parents in Omaha, Neb., to get in touch with the American Civil Liberties Union. Their children — 23 of them — had been suspended from school for wearing the wrong clothes.
The teenagers, all students at Millard South High School, were ordered to stay home from one to three days in late August for wearing T-shirts that memorialized Julius Robinson, 18, a Millard South football player who was shot to death in June. The shirts were being sold to help raise money so Robinson’s family could buy a headstone for his grave.
Robinson was “just a really good guy,” said Dan Kuhr, a friend who designed the shirts. “He didn’t cause a lot of trouble.”
But to officials of the Millard Public Schools, the words “Julius RIP” on the shirts were disruptive. After consulting with Omaha police, they also said the shirts could be considered gang-related.
Quote #4
In this passage the author talks about how students got suspended for wearing a shirt in memory of their friend. His friend was a memeber of the football team. His parents sold shirt to raise money for his gravestone. They got introuble because it was disruptive. After talking to the police they also said it could be gang-related. In my oponion I believe thats wrong because it jus in memory of him.

The image above shows how in school what the staff really worry about the most is dresscode. Like in the graph above there more concern about uniforms being all wrong than other stuff like grades.

The dress code states that "teachers may impose more stringent dress requirements to accommodate the special needs of certain ... classes." That language is vague and violates student's rights to engage in protected speech and expression.
The dress code states that hats, caps and other head coverings are banned in junior high/middle schools. There is no specific, written exception to protect the rights of students who wear caps or other head coverings because of their religious beliefs, such as Jewish boys and Muslim and Hindu girls, or students who must wear such items for medical or health reasons.
The dress code is still unreasonable because it bans many items, designs and styles of clothing which are not a health or safety hazard and cannot reasonably be shown to cause a substantial disruption of school activities.
Quote #3In the passage of Students Rights the author talks about how Students that need to wear a hat or head covering because their religion are allowed. Also if you have a medical excuse you can also wear it too. The dress code had yet not been reasonable because most of the iteams are banned from the schools. Teachers are allowed to tell a student there are not following student dresscode.

In this photo it reminds me how little things such as in the photo above show that the student got iss for wearing unmatching socks. In our school if we wear sleeping slippers or pj's we get sent to iss for wearing little simpy things like that. Just like the picture above, like I said before were not showing anything inapropaite.

In a story on October 2 in New Mexico, a young middle school girl who is being called a "good student and not a troublemaker" was suspended for 3-days for a dress code violation. There was no cleavage or excess skin shown due to a mini-skirt that was too short. The offense? Her shirt was untucked.

Weingartner investigates how some punishments are way out of hand. How a good student got suspended for 3 days for wearing a mini-skirt. It wasnt showing no cleavage nor was it not showing no excess skin.

This image explains how there not allowd because of the way they dressed. In school it relates like that because we get introuble for dressing certain ways. Were not able to express our self good. A hair scarf maybe a students signature. Teacher dont understand that

In Muskogee, Oklahoma, a Muslim sixth grader named Nashala Hearn was suspended twice for wearing her head scarf because it violated the dress code of the Benjamin Franklin Science Academy, the school she attended. On August 27, more than 200 male students at Bonham High School in Bonham, Texas, were herded through the cafeteria, videotaped and forced to lift up their shirts so that school officials could determine if their waistlines were too low, or if their underwear was showing. And since the school year began last month at the Duncanville High School and Ninth Grade Center in Duncanville, Texas, more than 700 students have been suspended for violating the school's "zero-tolerance" dress code. One of them was a 13-year-old honor student who was suspended for having her shirt untucked.

In the kids speak passage a muslim sixth grader got suspended for wearing her head scarf. It was violating the dresscode. Guys were forced to lift their shirt up to see if there jeans were waist level. More than 700 students have been suspended and the school year has just started. Things are getting out of hand because its not that nessary for them to do all of this.

What I want to know about my topic
Why is the dress code so restricting?
1. What do they base the dresscode on?
2. Does the dresscodes change during time because of fashion?
3. What's are common punishments for violating dress code?
4. Are students dresscode a violation of students right?
5. Is school dresscode becoming a big problem?

What I already know about my topic
I already know that we can't wear jeans that have holes in them. Skirts that are two inches above your knee are not allowed and shorts. No tanks that are not three inches. No pajamas are allowed or sleeping shoes. I found out this because I was told by an administrater. I also looked at the student handbook. Found out I couldn't wear certain thing. I learn this by personal experience

The story behind my topic choice
The bell has ring and finally school is over. I was leaving Mrs. Strickland's room. As I was walking down the hallway and next thing I know I heard someone call my name. I looked back and I see Mrs. Hinson and she called me over. She started talking about my jeans that they had a holes in them. I didn't see nothing wrong it wasnt showing no skin. She went on about it. Well she ended up telling me next time I wear something inappropriate she was going to write me up. I didn't think it was that nessary I wasnt showing much skin.
